Studio 88 Policies
My Responsibilities:
I will teach students the language of music in a positive and enthusiastic environment. It is my goal to
empower and teach each one based on their individual interests and long-term goals. I will tailor the
curriculum and learning style to best match each student.
Student and Family Responsibilities:
Students agree to arrive at each lesson punctually, well-prepared and with their assignment books and all
music books. To make consistent progress, daily quality practice is necessary. Theory is part of weekly
practice and should be completed each week. Please ask questions if your child or you, are unclear regarding
a concept or assignment.
Students are highly encouraged to play in recitals, festivals and competitions. Preparation for these performances
is started well ahead of the time of the event. If I feel the student is not prepared to perform, I reserve the right to
remove them from the event (no refunds for competitions).
Students are expected to have an appropriate instrument at home to practice on and a
piano bench should be used. Pianos should be tuned on regular basis.
Tuition and Scheduling:
Lessons are $30.00 per one half hour lesson.
*Please note that tuition reserves the weekly time during my studio hours. Enrolling in lessons is the purchase of my instruction and time. There are no refunded lessons.
Tuition is calculated per half hour lesson and the total may vary based on the number of weeks in the month.
Payments received after the first lesson of the month will be charged a $10 late fee.
Recurring late payments may result in termination of the student's enrollments.
Tuition may be paid using cash or check (made out to Pam Truax). Paypal is available. You will be responsible for the service fee applied to Paypal pamtruax61@gmail.com
Cancellation Policy:
During lessons, I am occupied and cannot answer calls, texts or emails. Prior to teaching, I will do my best to answer calls, texts and emails.
If you have a message for me regarding your child's lesson, email me or leave a message on my voicemail. If your child is ill, and does not go to school,
please notify me in the morning on the day of the lesson. In the case of a family emergency, extended illness or family vacation, if an opening becomes
available, in my studio, I will offer that time for a make-up lesson. One week's notice is required for family vacations and 24-hour notice is required for
planned absences.
If I cancel a lesson, a credit will be issued on the next month's tuition invoice.
If Waukesha Conservatory of Music is closed due to weather, lessons will be taught virtually.
If you decide that lessons will be discontinued before the year's end, I require one month's notice.
Materials, Festivals, Extras:
Book purchases, done by me, and festival fees will be added to the invoice as they occur.
There will be a one-time charge of $20 per student for licensed materials used throughout the year.
Extras:
-Fingernails are to be kept short at all times.
-Please have your child use the rest room and wash their hands BEFORE the lesson.
-If you are first on the schedule or following my break, please respect that I will start on time but not early
Dismissal:
Regrettably, I will have to dismiss a student if any of these circumstances occur.
- Persistent absences
- Uncooperative attitude
- Lack of progress due to insufficient practice or unfulfilled requirements.
Fall term: September through December Spring Term: January through May Summer Term: June through August
Please note that a student's spot will not be guaranteed for the fall term if they were not enrolled in lessons during the summer term.
Photo and Video Release
From time to time, I may use photos or short videos of my students, around the studio, on the studio website. These videos and posts are
encouraging to other students and fun for kids to see. If you do not want your child's image(s) to be used, please let me know.
The students would only be identified by their first name, or no name would be used.
By enrolling in and paying tuition for my child in Pam Truax's studio, I certify that I understand and agree to the studio policies for the 2021-2022 school year.
